Joetta Brewer met Martin Portillo in 1986 when one of Joetta's sisters was dating a friend of Martin's. Joetta and Martin have been together for 21 years. Martin works as a horse trainer.
Joetta and Martin have two children: Elena, 19; and Erica, 14. Joetta says that Elena is nothing like her shy and quiet mother who never got into trouble. "I don't think she made it through one year of school without getting into some kind of trouble," said Joetta. "Must have got that from her dad," she added.
Elena is currently working as a certified nursing assistant. Erica is attending school in Sallisaw and will be a freshman when school resumes in August.
Joetta is employed in the long term health care industry. Joetta does bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and policies and procedures for ten nursing homes. She's been with the company for 30 years.
